Unicaf University, Zambia, Awards Full Scholarship to Fashion Designer 

In a special ceremony held at the new Unicaf University, Zambia campus, 25-year-old fashion designer Lauryn Chitandula was awarded a 100% scholarship to pursue a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration. This scholarship marks a significant milestone in Lauryn’s career and is a result of a partnership between Unicaf University and the Ministry of Youth, Sports and Arts during the recent Creative Industries Business Summit.

Mr Fumba Chama, Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Youth, Sports and Arts, spoke at the award ceremony, expressing gratitude to Unicaf University for its commitment to empowering Zambian talent. He stated, “By investing in these bright minds, Unicaf is sending a powerful message: that creativity is valued, that artistic expression is essential, and that every student deserves the opportunity to thrive. This scholarship opens doors to new possibilities, enabling talented individuals to explore their ideas, develop skills, and contribute meaningfully to our society.”

Unicaf University in Zambia Vice-Chancellor, Dr Christine Phiri Mushibwe echoed these sentiments, emphasising that the scholarship is not only a recognition of Lauryn’s exceptional talent but also a reflection of Unicaf University’s commitment to investing in Zambia’s future leaders. Dr Mushibwe also called upon the Ministry to continue its efforts in empowering women through education.

Lauryn Chitandula, expressing her heartfelt appreciation, highlighted how the scholarship will change her life by giving her access to a quality tertiary education. “This scholarship will not only provide me with the education I need but will also equip me with the knowledge to run my fashion business successfully,” Lauryn said.

The scholarship marks yet another step in Unicaf University, Zambia’s ongoing mission to provide educational opportunities and foster growth within the creative and entrepreneurial sectors of the country.
