Unicaf University in Zambia Celebrates International Women’s Day 2023

Unicaf University in Zambia celebrated International Women’s Day on March 8th, 2023, under the global theme “DigitALL: Innovation and technology for gender equality.” 

This year’s event focused on the following:

  • recognising and celebrating women and girls who champion the advancement of transformative technology and digital education
  • exploring the impact of the digital gender gap on widening economic and social inequalities
  • and spotlighting the importance of protecting the rights of women and girls in digital spaces and addressing online and ICT-facilitated gender-based violence

The University’s Staff Welfare Committee presented female staff members with a cake and a rose in recognition of their contribution to the advancement of the University’s vision of gender equality. A small ceremony was held at the university amphitheater, where Vice-Chancellor, Dr Christine Phiri Mushibwe, shared words of advice and encouragement.

In her remarks, Dr Mushibwe emphasized the importance of gender equality and the role of technology and innovation in achieving it. She commended the female staff members for their commitment to the University’s vision of gender equality and encouraged them to continue championing the cause.

International Women’s Day is an annual event that celebrates the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women and girls around the world. Unicaf University in Zambia is proud to be part of this global celebration and to promote gender equality in all aspects of its operations.
